The Punjab Public Service Commission (PPSC) invites Applications from eligible candidates for Punjab Civil Service (Judicial Branch) Examination 2011 to be conducted jointly by the Punjab Public Service Commission and Hon’ble High Court Punjab & Haryana :

Punjab Civil Service – PSC (Judicial Branch) : 110 posts, Pay Scales : Rs. 27700-40450, Age : 21 – 37 years as on 1/1/2011. Age relaxation as per Punjab Govt. rules.

How to Apply : Application From complete in all respect along with the DD of Rs.2000/- (Rs.500/- for SC/ ST/ BC) in favour of Secretary, Punjab Public Service Commission, should reach the office of Secretary, Punjab Public Service Commission, Patiala, Punjab

General Instructions:
a. Candidates are required to read the instructions carefully for filling up their Application Forms correctly.
b. Application Form should be filled up in Capital letters only.
c. Three Identical Passport size recent photographs duly attested must be attached with the Application Form.
d. Attestation of the Photographs and the Documents/Certificate should only be done by a Gazetted Officer.
e. There should not be any overwriting in the Application Form.
f. Application Forms, which are not legible, will be rejected.
g. In boxed space, only one letter should be written in each box and to separate one word from another (e.g. in Candidates Name/Father’s Name etc.) one box should be left blank.
h. Application Forms which are wrongly filled up or incomplete or received late or not accompanied by the requisite fee in the prescribed manner, attested copies of Photographs and Certificates regarding Date of Birth, Degree, proof of marks obtained in punjabi and other requisite certificates, shall be summarily rejected. The Commission’s decision in this regard will be final.
i. Candidate should write his/her name and Date of Birth as mentioned in the Matriculation/Higher Secondary Certificate.
j. Candidates MAY DOWNLOAD the Application Form from the website www.ppsc.gov.in OR obtain the Application Form from the office of Punjab Public Service Commission, Baradari Gardens, Patiala w.e.f 19.9.2011 and submit directly to the Secretary, Punjab Public Service Commission, Baradari Gardens, Patiala.
k. Application Form must reach to the office of Secretary, Punjab Public Service Commission, Patiala latest by 5.00 PM on or before 17.10.2011 alongwith prescribed fee and documents. Responsibility for any postal delay will be of the candidate.
l. Application Forms which are wrongly filled or incomplete or received late or not accompanied by the requisite fee and attested copies of certificates regarding Date of Birth, Degree, proof of marks obtained in punjabi and other requisite certificates and three identical recent passport size photographs shall be summarily rejected. The Commission’s decision in this regard will be final.
m. Candidates should select their categories carefully, because candidates belonging to categories other than category (General, LDES<, Physically Handicapped, Punjab, Freedom Fighter, Punjab) are entitled to fee concession/exemption, age relaxation and job reservation to a candidate. The category once selected by a candidate will not be changed under any circumstances. Candidates should also ensure to submit required certificates in support of their claim to a particular category.
n. Candidates must submit reservation category-cum-domicile certificate attested by a Gazetted Officer for claiming reservation.
o. Scheduled Caste Candidates belonging to other States may fill their category code-71 i.e. General .
p. The persons serving in the Armed Forces of the Union, who on retirement from service would come under the category of “Ex-servicemen”, may be permitted to apply for re-employment one year before the completion of specified terms of engagement and avail themselves of all concessions available to Ex-servicemen but shall not be permitted to leave the uniform until they complete the specified terms of engagement in the Armed Forces of the Union

About the organization:
The Joint Public Service Commission, the precursor of the Punjab Public Service Commission, with its writ running from the Khyber Pass to the Jamuna near Delhi, was born at Lahore on May 1,1937. In the wake of the Partition, the Punjab Public Service Commission resurged in February, 1948, at Shimla with its revised jurisdiction extending over the then province of East Punjab. Following the merger of the States of Punjab and Pepsu, it shifted to Patiala on Nov.1st,1956. The Commission comprises of the Chairman and seven Members. The important provisions of the Constitution relating to Public Service Commissions are as below: Article16: Equality of opportunity in matters of Public Employment. Article 315: Public Service Commissions Appointment and Term of Office of Members Removal and Suspension of a Member of a Public Service Commission Power to make regulations as to conditions of service of members and staff of the Commission Under Article 323 (2) of the Constitution. It is the duty of the Commission to present annually to the Governor of the State a report as to the work done by the Commission. The Governor, On receipt of such report, the Governor causes a copy thereof, together with a memorandum explaining, as respects the cases, if any, where the advice of the Commission was not accepted, the reasons for such non-acceptance, to be laid before the Legislature of the State. In this case, Commission conducts a competitive written    examination as per syllabii prescribed in the relevant service rules. The categories covered are: PCS (Ex. Branch), PCS (Judicial Branch), DSP/DSJ, BDPO and   Treasury Officer. PCS (Ex. Br.) includes allied services viz ETO, Tehsildar, Food Supply and Consumer Affairs Officers, Registrar Co-operative Societies, Labour and Conciliation Officer, Forest Officer and Employment Officer. Those who clear the written test as per terms and conditions laid down in this respective service rules, are subjected to an oral test i.e. interview.In some cases, the Commission makes recruitment on the basis of interview alone but In case the number of candidates/applicants vis-à-vis number of posts is much larger Commission conducts a short listing/screening test. When the number of applicants vis-à-vis number of posts, is small. Commission conducts only interview of the eligible candidates.
